sweet morning - forgetting and remembering

Some finds: an old plant book from flea market (oh, I like so much those thin and clumsy letters on the first page of the book) and an old heart pancake pan from my own cupboard, and an elm

I had simply forgot that I have this kind of pancake pan. In the morning I was tempted by the thought of american style pancakes. Then I was talking on the phone to my friend and complaining that I'd need a cute little pancake pan and at the very moment I realized I already might have one. A little rummaging in the cupboard enabled my pancake dream. What a nice "find" it was. Hearts... Pancakes... Yay!

And also the elm "found" I - yesterday I re-learned what the elm looks like. In other words I had forgot that too. Phew, it's uncountable amount of things in the world that you've learned once and then forgotten. Well, in fact it was Himalainen who mentioned the elm in her latest post. And I was overjoyed because I have the elm's sprigs on my bedroom wall but I actually didn't remember those are elm's sprigs. I've been wondering many times what are these but because never earlier I haven't have elms in my environment (and to be true, I'm not that good with plant species). But now here in my new neighbourhood it's very much elms, and I like those so much!  I didn't even remember the whole tree while I was trying to remember tree species. I just loved its cores and couldn't help picking up two sprigs in the spring when the elms were blooming. But now I'm familiar with the elm and learning more from my vintage plant book. Good.

I'm humming along with Beirut right now. It's good good good, very very good. I admire Zachary Condon. Please enjoy this too. I love Alma Har'el's music videos. Well, look at this too. What do you think? Aren't those great!?

  1. Vanhoissa kirjoissa on kyllä taikaa.

  7. Meillä paistetaan vaan tylsiä pyöreitä lättyjä...

Minunkin pitäisi hankkia kasvio, olen entisen hukannut jossakin muutossa.

Noissa vanhoissa kasvioissa on kauneimmat kuvat, vaikka kaikki nimet eivät enää olekaan ajantasalla.

So funny how you can forget things you already have...I have the same thing. And yes, it's such a great find, when you discover them again...

Onneksi on Himalainen!

Jenny, millonkas oot viimeksi syönyt lettuja?

Liz, nice to hear here are some others too who loves Beirut! Your words make my day!

Anonymous, thank you. Sometimes I shame a little my English, but I bravely continue writing in English since that's the only way to better my skills in it.

Hullua!

Rynke, isn't it! I like it so :) And yeah, that's funny but also worrying that you can't remember all the stuff what is hiding in storage. Maybe it tells that we modern folk do have too much stuff. But finding the pan made me very glad!

Anna-Kaisa, no sehän on mukava kuulla :)

  11. yes, practice makes perfect. Actually your English is excellent-you have the ability to express both simple & complex ideas. The occasional grammatical lapse actually sounds charming to the English speaking reader. Your blog content is interesting. When i found your site i read every entry since you began. Well written. Fascinating & charming. Excellent photos. Thanks.
